Information Services

Serco is at the forefront of designing and delivering hardware and software solutions to meet the challenges of providing a constant flow of Real Time Information which can be delivered via a variety of different channels, including:

  • Variable Message Signs (VMS) displayed electronically at the roadside
  • An interactive website
  • Mobile and landline departure information telephone services     

Strategic framework for travel information
The Highways Agency has appointed Serco to provide consultancy services to assist in developing services throughout England. The service provided includes drafting of papers, third party consultation, framework for a communications plan and promotion of the benefits of travel information systems. 

Quality bus corridors
Serco are leading a team to provide a fully integrated system for management and operation of Glasgow’s Quality Bus Corridors. Serco have undertaken the role of design authority, project management and the implementation and maintenance of the automatic vehicle location and information system.

Mersey Tunnels project
Serco has been contracted for the Provision of Consultancy Services for Mersey Tunnels Variable Message Signs and Traffic Systems Integration Project. Following the initial feasibility study Serco has been retained to undertake an extensive trial of message sign technology and longitudinal spacing of signs to deliver optimum performance.
