Serco are pleased to announce that we have just been appointed preferred bidder to operate and maintain the Docklands Light Railway for another seven years with the possibility of extending it for a further two. Serco has operated and maintained the Docklands Light Railway (Please note: this link will open the page in a new browser window) (DLR) in London since April 1997. It was built to aid in the economic and social regeneration of the community surrounding East London.
The DLR is a self-contained system with direct links to London’s underground and overground rail networks operating in a dense urban environment. It serves large commercial developments, a growing residential population and many of London tourist attractions.
Award-winning light rail service
Serco was awarded one of the highest accolades in the UK rail industry in 2005 when it received the Outstanding Achievement award at the National Rail Awards. This is the sixth consecutive award received by the DLR in 5 years.
