Serco Solutions secures £2 million agreement with the DTI
February 15th 2007
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has selected Serco Solutions as the contractor for the management and delivery of its Business Performance Diagnostic and Benchmark Index tools to help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) benchmark themselves against their peers. The contract commenced in January 2007 and, due to run for three years, is worth £2 million.
The Business Performance Diagnostic (BPD) is delivered exclusively to businesses in England through the Business Link network. Like the Benchmark Index it enables businesses to identify their strengths and weaknesses relative to others and develop an action plan for company growth.
Through the Benchmark Index web-based portal, SMEs may also access a self-assessment tool enabling them to perform a “health check”. The services complement the ‘businesslink.gov.uk‘ programme which currently brings together business information from across Government.
Serco Solutions, the division of Serco Group responsible for IT-enabled transformation and service delivery in the public sector, will host and develop the web services from Birmingham and manage the DTI’s hardware and software infrastructure. Serco Solutions will also provide ongoing support through helpline services and disaster recovery.
Kevin Lavery, Chief Executive, Serco Solutions comments: “We are delighted to have been chosen by DTI as its contractor. It is another example of UK plc transforming its services and delivering better outcomes. This programme will make a significant contribution to the effectiveness of SMEs which play a critical role in the UK economy. Given the breadth of our experience I am confident we can help DTI meet its ambitious objectives.”
