Kilmarnock Prison
Her Majesty's Prison Kilmarnock in Ayrshire cares for up to 640 male prisoners under contract to the Scottish Prison Service. They include men awaiting trial and serving sentences up to and including life sentences.
Kilmarnock provides education – literacy, numeracy, IT and vocational skills - healthcare, industrial work opportunities, drug and alcohol counselling, offending behaviour workshops and a wide range of ‘throughcare’ designed to help prisoners make the transition into a stable, healthy law-abiding life after release. Please see below for more details.
Kilmarnock is currently the only privately-run prison in Scotland.
