At the Serco senior leadership conference in 2007, our Chief Executive Chris Hyman stated our strong belief that we need three things to move from a good company to a great one. The first and most important is great leadership, together with great performance and great innovation.
2007 saw the launch of leadershipł - our strategy to deliver our vision by enabling our leadership to excel. Initially focused on our senior leadership, the strategy will over the course of 2008 have a broader impact on the entire Serco leadership population.
Through leadershipł, we are establishing a pipeline of talent, identifying and developing the right type of leaders, the right amount of leaders and the right leadership performance. We capture and retain all the good practices, skills and attributes we have today - a strong base to build on. We drive and manage our growth and adapt to the significant challenges and opportunities that face us in the future.
To support this, we design and implement the appropriate processes, tools and practices. We support our leadership to develop the attributes that drive growth. We have developed a performance review programme incorporating our leadershipł model and in line with our governing principles. We provide programmes of business-focused learning events, master classes, coaching, and self-education.
